About the relationship between RFID and NFC? Many People are confused about this questions, In order to clarify this issue, Now we can see following legend.

RFID and NFC

From above legend, we can clearly find out that RFID and NFC have much difference, meanwhile, they have certain intersection.

RFID classification
RFID have many classifications, But in here, we only discuss to classify it by usage.
According to different application areas, RFID have many different frequency, classify it from low to high:
1. Low frequency(LF)
   125Khz
   134Khz
2. High frequency(HF)
   13.56Mhz
3. Ultra high frequency
   900Mhz
4. Microwave
   2.4G, 5.8G

Relationship between RFID and NFC

We can see from above picture, the biggest common ground of them are they all adopt in 13.56Mhz frequency, meanwhile, we contact mostly 13.56Mhz frequency, this is why we don't understand difference between RFID and NFC. In fact, RFID range are more wider than NFC, RFID have many other frequency expect for 13.56Mhz frequency, but NFC only have 13.56Mhz frequency.

The original intention of formulate NFC was to develop small data exchange between near field payment and incompact attestation. NFC choose 13.56Mhz as the baseNFC near-field payment and certification of loose small data exchange, 13.56Mhz as the base of NFC, meanwhile, added point to point communication, traditional RFID can only interact a reader a tag at the same time, but NFC can transfer data between two reader.

Moreover NFC don't compatible all the RFID, just compatible ISO14443A and 15693 protocols, which is not support ISO14443B, for example, our identification card.
